SkyePharma Plc has appointed Thomas Werner, managing director of GlaxoSmithKline, Germany, as a non-executive director, effective 16 May 2009. Dr Werner has more than 26 years of experience in the pharmaceutical industry, most recently at GSK Germany where he was also a senior vice president.
He has also held senior positions at Bristol-Myers Squibb and its medical devices subsidiary, Convatec, in Germany. Dr Werner sits on the boards of trustees of both the Paul Ehrlich Association and the Robert Koch Foundation.
