Stem Cell Sciences Plc has appointed Alastair James Riddell as its chief executive officer, replacing the company’s founder, Peter Mountford, who will become chief technology officer, based in Melbourne, Australia.

Dr Mountford will retain his position as an executive director of the company. Dr Riddell has more than 10 years of experience at board level at a number of companies. In these roles, he has helped raise finance and has negotiated deals for both public and private companies. Most recently, he was non-executive chairman of Surface Therapeutics, overseeing the company’s acquisition by Serentis in September 2007.
