Syncona Investment Management Limited has made senior management changes as its strategy moves predominantly towards companies at a clinical stage. Chris Hollowood, chief executive officer, is taking on the additional role of chief investment officer. Samantha Roberts is appointed managing director to focus on commercial strategy and organisational management, while Dr Hollowood concentrates on investment strategy.
Dr Roberts joined the group in February 2026 as an executive partner and is currently a board director at Spur Therapeutics Ltd. She was previously chief executive of the UK’s National Institute for Health and Care Excellence. In addition, Roel Bulthuis is stepping down from his full-time role as managing partner, head of investments, in a transition to executive partner.
