Shire Plc, a specialty biopharmaceutical company, announced that Matthew Emmens, chief executive officer, will become non-executive chairman in June 2008, when the incumbent, James H Cavanaugh, retires at age 70.
Angus Russell, currently chief financial officer and who has 27 years experience in the pharmaceutical industry, will become chief executive officer in June 2008 when Mr Emmens becomes chairman.
