Santaris Pharma A/S of Denmark has appointed Flemming Ørnskov as non-executive chairman, effective 24 May 2007.
Dr Ørnskov is president and chief executive officer of the recently listed Lifecycle Pharma A/S in addition to serving as chairman of the board of Astion Pharma A/S, a specialist dermatology company. Between 2005 and 2006, he was president and CEO of Ikaria Inc which subsequently merged with Ino Therapeutics Inc. Dr Ørnskov has also worked in senior management positions at Novartis and at Merck & Co, Inc.
He qualified in medicine at the University of Copenhagen Medical School in 1984, received a masters of business administration from INSEAD Business School in France in 1989 and a masters degree in public health from the Harvard Medical School in 1996.
Dr Ørnskov replaces Martien van Osch, a general partner at Forbion Capital Partners.
