Qlaris Bio Inc, a clinical-stage developer of therapies for glaucoma, has appointed Fred Guerard as president and chief executive officer. He will join the company’s board and succeeds Qlaris’ co-founder Thurein Htoo. Dr Guerard has a track record of advancing innovative therapies through late-stage development and toward commercialisation as Qlaris brings its lead programme, QLS-111 for glaucoma and ocular hypertenson, into Phase 3.
He has two decades of leadership experience in ophthalmology and biotechnology, most recently as CEO of Opthea Ltd of Australia. Previously, he was president and CEO of Graybug Vision Inc. Dr Guerard holds a doctor of pharmacy degree and a master of biological and medical sciences from the University of Rouen, France.
