Pat O’Mahony re-elected chair of EMA board

Pat O’Mahony, chief executive of the Irish Medicines Board, has been re-elected chair of the Management Board of the European Medicines Agency. This will be his second three-year term. Mr O’Mahony became CEO of the Irish regulator in December 2002. Before that, he worked in public health and was Director of Consumer Protection at the Food Safety Authority of Ireland. He was also a technical manager in the pharmaceutical industry in Ireland and the UK and spent a number of years in private veterinary practice. Mr O’Mahony holds an MBA degree from the Michael Smurfit Graduate School of Business at University College Dublin.
