Nxera Pharma Co Ltd has appointed Kiyoshi Kaneko as chief commercial officer and promoted Mariko Nakafuji to chief legal officer. The new position of CCO will support building commercial activities in Japan and the company’s efforts to become one of the leading biopharma businesses in Japan. Mr Kaneko’s previous roles included representative director and president of Luye Life Sciences Group Japan, leading strategic partnerships with Japanese life sciences companies, and at AstraZeneca, as senior vice president for its commercial organisation and corporate strategy in Japan. Ms Nakafuji joined Nxera in 2021 as general counsel and played a key role in the company’s acquisition of the Japan and South Korean businesses of Idorsia Pharmaceuticals. In her new role, Ms Nakafuji, a solicitor in England and Wales, will be responsible for global (ex-Japan) legal affairs and will be based in the UK.
Nxera announced the appointments on 1 April 2025.
