Herantis Pharma Plc has appointed Juha Savola as chief medical officer as the company advances its therapy, HER-096, to stop the progression of Parkinson’s disease. Dr Savola brings more than 25 years of global drug development, with a track record of guiding therapies from clinical development through regulatory approval and commercialisation.
Most recently, he was vice president, clinical development at Spark Therapeutics where he led clinical development programmes across ophthalmology and neurology. Previously Dr Savola held senior leadership roles at Teva Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd, F. Hoffmann-La Roche, Santhera Pharmaceuticals Holding AG and Juvantia Pharma Ltd, helping to shape global development strategies across neurodegenerative and neurological disorders. He holds an MD and PhD from the University of Oulu, Finland and has authored more than 70 peer-reviewed publications covering neurodegenerative diseases among other subjects.
