Iranian-educated Mehdi Shahidi has been promoted to the position of chief medical officer at Boehringer Ingelheim GmbH as the company advances its portfolio of medicines for respiratory and, cardiovascular diseases and cancer. Dr Shahidi joined Boehringer in 2005 as a cancer specialist having completed his oncology training at the Royal Marsden Hospital in London, UK. He obtained his medical degree in Tehran. He will assume his new job on 1 March, replacing Thor Voigt who is retiring.
Boehringer Ingelheim announced the appointment on 25 February 2019.
