H. Lundbeck A/S has appointed Tarek Samad as executive vice president and head of Research & Development, effective 1 September 2026. Dr Samad succeeds Johan Luthman who has decided to retire and who will remain with Lundbeck until the end of 2026 to ensure the handover and strategic continuity. During Dr Luthman’s tenure, R&D delivered successful new products and lifecycle management across global markets to strengthen Lundbeck's focus on neuroscience. Dr Samad is currently global head of research and corporate patents and has led Lundbeck’s research organisation since 2021. Dr Samad has a PhD and Masters in genetic engineering and biology and molecular and cellular biology from the University of Strasbourg, France.
Lundbeck announced the appointment on 24 June 2026.
