Lorraine Nolan elected chair of EMA

Lorraine Nolan, an experienced drug regulator, has been elected chair of the management board of the European Medicines Agency for the coming three years, succeeding Christa Wirthumer-Hoche. Dr Nolan is chief executive of the Irish Health Products Regulatory Authority and has been a member of the EMA board since early 2016. She joined the Irish regulator in 2001.

Dr Nolan is a chemist by training and completed a PhD in drug development at Trinity College Dublin in Ireland.

The EMA announced the appointment on 17 March 2022.
