Kevin O’Higgins has been appointed Judge of the Court of First Instance (CFI) of the European Communities. His term runs until 31 August 2013. He succeeds John D. Cooke who has been a CFI judge since 1996.

Mr O’Higgins was educated at Crescent College Limerick, Clongowes Wood College, University College Dublin and the King’s Inns. He became a member of the Bar of Ireland in 1968. Most recently, he was the Irish representative on the Consultative Council of European Judges.
