UK entrepreneur John Burt has been named chief executive of Medherant Ltd, a company with a clinical-stage transdermal patch for the treatment of pain. Dr Burt was previously CEO of Abzena Plc, a contract research and manufacturing organisation which was sold to the US private equity firm Welsh Carson Anderson & Stowe in 2018. Prior to this, he co-founded and led the UK biotech Thiakis Ltd.
Dr Burt earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in natural sciences from the University of Cambridge and a DPhil in plant molecular biology from the University of Oxford, UK.
Medherant announced the appointment on 25 June 2019.
