Immunic Inc has appointed Michael W. Bonney, a seasoned biopharmaceutical executive, as chair of its board of directors. Mr Bonney brings more than three decades of industry leadership, including significant commercial expertise in multiple sclerosis (MS) and central nervous system therapies. Notably, at Biogen Inc, he was closely involved in the launch and growth of Avonex, one of the first widely adopted therapies for relapsing forms of MS.
Mr Bonney later was chief executive officer of Cubist Pharmaceuticals for over a decade, with his tenure including the successful commercialisation of Cubicin, an antibiotic, and the company's subsequent acquisition by Merck & Co. In addition to Immunic, Mr Bonney is chair of the board of Autolus Therapeutics, Dunad Therapeutics and Santa Ana Bio. Immunic’s vidofludimus calcium is in phase 3 clinical trials for the treatment of relapsing MS, with top-line data expected by the end of 2026.
