Ian Gilham has become chief executive officer of Axis-Shield Plc of Scotland, replacing Svein Lien who has left the group. The executive changes took effect on 1 January 2008.
Mr Gilham was previously chief operating officer. He joined the company in 2001 as managing director of the laboratory division, having come from GlaxoSmithKline. At GSK, he was vice president for pharmacogenetics. Mr Gilham previously held senior management positions at Abbott Laboratories, Celltech and Amersham.
Axis-Shield is an international in vitro diagnostics company which specialises in developing and manufacturing diagnostics kits for cardiovascular and neurological diseases, rheumatoid arthritis and diabetes.
