Swedish Orphan Biovitrum AB (Sobi) has appointed Guido Oelkers as chief executive officer and president, effective 22 May. Dr Oelkers was previously CEO of BSN Medical GmbH and before that, CEO of the former Swedish medical technology company Gambro. He began his career at Aventis, formerly Hoechst AG. The executive holds a doctorate degree in strategic management from the University of South Australia, and a master’s degree in economics from the South Bank University in London, UK.
