EMA renews mandate of Emer Cooke

The management board of the European Medicines Agency has renewed the mandate of the agency’s Executive Director Emer Cooke, extending her term in office until 30 April 2027. Ms Cooke’s renewed mandate will start at the expiration of her current term in November, and run until her planned date of retirement, the agency announced on 10 September.

Ms Cooke has more than 30 years of experience in international regulatory affairs, with more than 18 of these in leadership positions. Before becoming the EMA’s executive director, she was responsible for medical product related regulatory activities at the World Health Organization. Ms Cooke holds a degree in pharmacy and two master’s degrees in science and business administration from Trinity College Dublin.
