Elevara Medicines Ltd has appointed Mai-Britt Zocca as chief executive officer, succeeding the clinical stage biotech’s founder and CEO Emma Tinsley who will remain on the board. Dr Zocca founded and was CEO of IO Biotech Inc, a Nasdaq-listed biopharmaceutical company developing novel cancer vaccines and advancing its pipeline through to a Phase 3 clinical trial.
She has held multiple chief executive leadership roles within the life sciences sector and served on the boards of industry organisations including Danish Biotech and the Danish Chamber of Commerce. Dr Zocca holds an MSc in biochemistry and a PhD in medicine from the University of Copenhagen, Denmark and the National Cancer Institute, US. Elevara is developing therapies for rheumatoid arthritis and started a Phase 2b trial in March for its lead candidate, ELV001, with support from a $70 million Series A led by Forbion and Sofinnova Partners in October 2025.
