Birgitte Volck becomes chief medical officer at Sobi

Swedish Orphan Biovitrum AB (Sobi) has appointed Birgitte Volck, an executive of Amgen Ltd in the UK, as its new chief medical officer with responsibility for clinical development, regulatory affairs, drug safety and medical affairs. The appointment takes effect on 1 August. Dr Volck has worked in senior positions at Amgen since 2007. Prior to that she was Nordic medical director at Genzyme (now Sanofi SA) in Denmark.

Dr Volck is a medical doctor and holds a PhD from the University of Copenhagen.

Sobi announced the appointment on 31 May 2012.
