Walid Abi-Saab has joined uniQure NV as chief medical officer, based in Basel, Switzerland, where he will lead all clinical research and development for the gene therapy company. Dr Abi-Saab joins from Galapagos NV where he was CMO for five years and responsible for the development of Jyseleca in rheumatoid arthritis. Prior to this, he was head of global clinical development at Shire, now part of Takeda Pharmaceutical Co. Dr Abi-Saab received an MD at the Université Saint Joseph in Beirut, Lebanon.
