Marc Jaeger elected president of the CFI

Marc Jaeger of Luxembourg has been elected president of the Court of First Instance (CFI) of the European Communities effective 17 September 2007. His term runs until 31 August 2010.

Mr Jaeger, who replaces BoVesterdorf, has been a judge at the court since July 1996. Prior to that he was legal secretary at the Court of Justice.

The CFI hears and determines at first instance all direct actions brought by individuals and member states of the European Union on issues such as competition and commercial policy. CFI decisions may be appealed to the European Court of Justice.
