Eli Lilly and Company has promoted Alfonso Zulueta, currently president and general manager of Lilly Japan, to the position of senior vice president overseeing the company’s emerging markets business, effective 1 January 2014. Mr Zulueta will replace Jacques Tapiero, who is retiring, and report to John Lechleiter, the chief executive.
Mr Zulueta joined Lilly in 1983 as a financial analyst. He received a bachelor’s degree in economics from De La Salle University in the Philippines in 1982 and an MBA from the University of Virginia in 1987.
Lilly announced the appointment on 24 October 2013.
