Martine George to manage Pfizer’s external oncology relationships

Pfizer Inc has appointed Martine J George, formerly of GPC Biotech, to the position of vice president of medical affairs for oncology with responsibility for managing Pfizer’s external relationships with cancer agencies and cancer specialists around the world.

Dr George received her MD from Paris University in 1975 and her MSc in pharmacology from Montreal University in 1973. She is board certified in medical oncology.

At GPC Biotech, Dr George was senior vice president of drug development and chief medical officer. She was responsible for the strategy and development of satraplatin, GPC’s candidate drug for hormone-refractory prostate cancer as well as the company’s early development compounds. Prior to this, Dr George was senior vice president and head of oncology for Johnson & Johnson and vice president of clinical affairs at Ortho Biotech Inc. Dr George’s 20 years in industry spans the areas of medical affairs, clinical research and regulatory affairs.
