Michiel Scheffer, an entrepreneur and former politician in the Netherlands, has been appointed as president of the board of the European Innovation Council which is part of the European Union’s Horizon Europe programme for innovative technologies. He is the founder and chief executive of Polisema BV, a Dutch advisory body for start-up enterprises, and a consultant to the industry with a focus on management and public affairs. He has also been a regional Minister of Gelderland, a province in the centre-east of the country.
Dr Scheffer received a PhD from Utrecht University in the Netherlands
The European Commission announced the appointment on 30 March 2023.
