Richard Bergström, head of Swedish pharmaceutical industry association, has been appointed director general of Efpia, the industry association for all of Europe. Mr Bergström succeeds Brian Ager who has been the Efpia director general for 16 years and is becoming secretary general of the European Round Table of Industrialists. Prior to heading the Swedish industry association, Mr Bergström worked in senior regulatory positions at both Roche and Novartis. He started his career at the Swedish Medical Products Agency.
