Gordon Duff is appointed chair of UK influenza advisory body

Gordon Duff, professor of molecular medicine at Sheffield University in the UK, has been appointed external chair of the UK’s Scientific Advisory Group on Pandemic Influenza. The panel gives advice to the Department of Health on measures that might be taken in response to a possible flu pandemic. It has recently been restructured to include people from a wider range of scientific disciplines as well as having an external chair.

In addition to his academic work, Prof Duff is chair of the Commission on Human Medicines and chair of the National Biological Standards Board. He is also a chair of the Scientific Advisory Board at the Dublin Centre for Molecular Medicine in Ireland.
