Emma Walmsley, an executive at L’Oreal, has been appointed president, consumer healthcare Europe and president designate, worldwide consumer healthcare at GlaxoSmithKline, effective 1 May 2010. In the first role she will have operational responsibility for GSK’s European business and brands, succeeding Manfred Scheske. Within two years she will assume global leadership for consumer healthcare from John Clarke. At L’Oreal, Ms Walmsley was the leader of the company’s consumer products business in China.
