Steven Gillis, a managing director at ARCH Venture Partners, is set to join the board of directors of Shire Plc from 1 October. Upon joining, he will become a member of the company’s science and technology, and remuneration committees. At ARCH, Dr Gillis evaluates new life science technologies. Prior to this, he was a founder and director of Corixa Corp, which was acquired by GlaxoSmithKline Plc in 2005.
Dr Gillis received a BA from Williams College in 1975 and a PhD from Dartmouth College in 1978.
Shire announced the appointment on 4 September 2012.
