Owkin Inc, a company with an artificial intelligence platform, has appointed Vassili Soumelis as chief medical officer, and Eric Durand as head of data science, to help the company advance its programmes in precision medicine. Owkin’s technology enables data scientists to use federated learning to connect to decentralised data sets and create AI models for drug discovery. Dr Soumelis is professor of immunology at the Université de Paris and coordinator of ImmunAID, a European project to better understand rare immune disorders. Dr Durand was most recently director of data science at Novartis. At Owkin, he will lead data science activities involving biomarkers, diagnostics and clinical trials.
Owkin announced the appointments on 2 March 2022.
