Per-Olof Attinger has been appointed head of corporate communications at Roche, effective 1 January 2009. In his new role, Mr Attinger will also be a member of the enlarged corporate executive committee, reporting to Severin Schwan, the chief executive.
Mr Attinger succeeds Rolf Schläpfer, who is leaving the company. Mr Attinger joined the Roche corporate finance division in 1992 and was responsible for various merger and acquisition projects as corporate business development manager. In recent years, he has held leading positions in the diagnostics division, and in 2006 he became a member of the divisional executive committee responsible for the successful integration into Roche of Ventana Medical Systems Inc of the US, which Roche acquired in February 2008.
