Harald Enzmann, head of European and international affairs at the German Federal Institute for Drugs and Medical Devices, has been elected chair of the Committee for Medicinal Products for Human Use, the committee that reviews marketing authorisation applications at the European Medicines Agency. He succeeds Tomas Salmonson who has held the position for six years. Dr Enzmann has been a CHMP member since 2005 and vice chair of the committee since November 2016.
Prior to working for the German regulator, he was a division head at Bayer HealthCare and a visiting scientist at the American Health Foundation. He received his medical degree from Karl Ruprechts University in Heidelberg and a master of science degree in experimental pathology at New York Medical College in the US.
