Genentech’s Arthur Levinson nominated for Roche board

Arthur Levinson, the veteran Genentech executive, is being proposed as a new member of the Roche group’s board of directors. He is expected to be confirmed at the company’s annual general meeting on 2 March 2010. Mr Levinson, who holds degrees from the University of Washington and Princeton University, joined Genentech as a senior research scientist, eventually becoming company chairman and chief executive officer. After Roche acquired full control of Genentech in March 2009, Mr Levinson chaired Genentech’s new board of directors and managed the integration of the biotech company into Roche.
