Deepak Khanna becomes president of ABPI

Deepak Khanna, senior vice president and UK managing director of Merck Sharp and Dohme, has been appointed president of the Association of the British Pharmaceutical Industry (ABPI). He takes over from Simon Jose of GlaxoSmithKline Plc. Mr Khanna will serve for one year, with the option of standing for re-election in a year’s time.

Separately, the ABPI has appointed Neil Weir, senior vice president of discovery at UCB SA, as chairman of its innovation board.

The ABPI announced the appointments on 30 April and 10 May 2012.
