Cardio3 BioSciences SA, the Belgian specialist in cardiac regenerative medicine, has appointed Jan Andersson, vice president of the Karolinska Institutet, as an independent director of the company.
Dr Andersson is also a professor of infectious diseases at the Karolinska University Hospital and a member of the Nobel Committee.
Cardio3 has also appointed Louise Proulx as an outside director. She has long experience in research and science management. She is currently vice president for research and development at Vertex Pharmaceuticals Inc in Canada.
Cardio3, which is 27% owned by the Mayo Clinic as a result of a licensing agreement, is working on ways of turning resident cardiac stem cells into functional tissue and thereby repair damage to the heart.
