Alberto Casado Cerviño appointed vice president of EPO

The European Patent Organisation has appointed Alberto Casado Cerviño to the position of vice president in charge of operational support at the European Patent Office. His appointment is for five years and he will succeed Peter Vermeij of the Netherlands.

Mr Casado Cerviño is the director general of the Spanish Patent and Trademark Office and previously served as vice president of the Office for Harmonization in the Internal Market. He was a member of the Administrative Council of the European Patent Organisation from 1988 to 1994 and has led the Spanish delegation since 2008. In 2009 he also acted as interim chair of the Administrative Council.

The EPO announced the appointment on 28 June 2012.
