Novartis appoints Bertrand Bodson as chief digital officer

Bertrand Bodson, a former consultant and social networking entrepreneur, has been appointed to the new position of chief digital officer at Novartis to oversee the company’s application of data technologies to drug discovery and development.

Mr Bodson is currently chief digital and marketing officer for Sainsbury’s Argos. He will start his new job on 1 January 2018.

Prior to working at Sainsbury’s Argos, he held a senior role at EMI Music and co-founded Bragster.com, a social networking and content sharing site. He has also held senior roles at Amazon Inc and worked at Boston Consulting Group.

Mr Bodson has a master’s degree in business administration from Harvard Business School and a master of commercial engineering from the Solvay Business School/McGill University in Belgium and Canada.

Novartis announced the appointment on 24 August 2017.
