Les Hughes, a medicinal chemist and consultant, has joined the board of trustees of MRC Technology to advise the medical research charity on its activities. Dr Hughes has more than 30 years of experience in the pharmaceutical industry including at AstraZeneca Plc where he led groups that discovered candidate drugs in oncology and infection. Joining him on the board is Mike Romanos, former chief executive of Crescendo Biologics, and a former manager at GlaxoSmithKline Plc. Dr Romanos holds a PhD in molecular virology from Imperial College London.
The appointments took effect on 1 March 2016.
